New Gardener & Gardeners Responsibilities

 The new assistant gardener Paul Williams started on 12th July 2017. Paul will be taking over the role of Henry. If you require any guidance or information about plants in your garden the team will be happy to assist you. Alternatively you can send an email to Frances.Hope@charterhousing.co.uk and you will receive a response in 7 working days. All maintenance has been carried out to the front gardens where the Leather Jacket infestation occurred. This is a reminder to residents it is your responsibilities to cut your front lawns on a regular basis, to ensure the regrowth is healthy.

Neighborhood Community Team visit

Following some recent problems Rachel, the Home Ownership Office attend site with the local Neighborhood Policing Team on Friday 14th July 2018.

It is important that all residents report any antisocial behavior and criminal damage to the police. This can be done by your telephone using the 101 service.  If you wish to speak to a local Community Support Officer then visit www.gwent.police.uk and select the ward to see the officers that cover this area. You can follow the Neighborhood Police on Twiter@gpalway where they post pictures and news stories. They also hold surgeries where you can meet your local Community Officer.The next survey will be held in  Newport Retail Park, NP194QQ on 17 August 2017 Start Time: 10:00:00 AM End Time: 12:00:00 PM.

If you are interested in running or joining a Neighbourhood watch please contact Rachel Lloyd to register your interest. Here are some things to think about when setting up your scheme:

  Do you need a deputy or second coordinator?

  Do you need to set up a small committee?

  Do you need to appoint a treasurer?

  How will you cover the costs of running the scheme (e.g. newsletters, meetings)?

  How will you communicate with members or police?

  Will you produce newsletters? If so, how often and who will produce them?

  How often will you meet and where?

  How will you deal with new requests for membership?

Alterations to your property

 Making Changes to Your Home – you are requirements to apply for consent before any work commences, that would affect the external appearance of your property residents must submit an application to Pobl Group for approval. You can obtain a form from Pobl Living by contacting 01633 233876.  Please refer to the Design Guide for additional information.

 Covenants and Responsibilities, examples of your responsibilities;

 Front Gardens Hedges will be maintained by Loftus Garden Village Management Company and must not be removed.

  1. Front garden gates must be maintained to an acceptable standard and painted white and must not be removed.
  2. Front gardens should be maintained to an acceptable standard and new shrubs should be of an appropriate size and should not over dominate the front garden
  3. Trees form an integral part of the village landscape and must not be removed.
  4. Boundary walls facing onto the highway should not be painted.

Request for Traffic Calming

 A number of residents have raised their concerns regarding the speed of cars around the main crescent at Loftus. During the visit by police on 14th July 2017, two cars were stopped as they were driving erratically. Residents have suggested that speed bump could be installed; as this will be an adoptable highway individual household will need to make a request directly to Newport Council. This can be done electronically. You will need to search for a request for traffic calming on Newport Council website.

 Estate Charge

 If you paid your estate charge in two instalments, your next payment is due before 30th September 2017. If you wish to make a payment please contact Katie Bush on 01633 233876.  Defects to your home

 For the first twelve months of occupancy within your home please can you report all repairs to the DLP Team in Pobl on 01633 679911.
