Garden Alterations
Alterations to your garden.
One of the many benefits of living at Loftus Garden Village is the beautiful planting and open spaces. The gardens of each home and the open spaces and planted areas at the kerbsides were carefully considered as a part of the planning process. Each new resident was aware of the very special nature of living in a garden village when they first decided to make it their home.
In order to preserve the beauty of Loftus it is necessary to ensure that any potential changes are carefully considered, and this is especially true when making changes to the plants and shrubs. What may look very attractive in a 2 litre pot in the garden centre could actually turn into a nightmare if planted in the wrong place. Careful consideration should be given to the eventual size of the plant before buying, and the amount of looking after it will require. A bit of research on the internet is always a good idea before making a decision.
Pruning is something else that is overlooked. Its not just a case of hacking everything back to the ground when plants have got out of hand, this looks awful and is not the look we want in our garden village. Pruning at the correct time of year is important to ensure flowers for next year, and stopping a plant becoming leggy and unsightly. Also, the method of pruning is important as different plants require different treatment.
As you all know the gardening team under the leadership of Frances is a wonderful source of both guidance, experience and knowledge, something we know you value. We urge residents wishing to make changes to the plants in their gardens to seek guidance from the team before buying any new plants, shrubs etc. and please ask advice on maintaining your garden if you’re not sure.
Any resident considering making a change must complete and submit an Application for Alteration form for consideration and approval before beginning any work. The form can be downloaded from the My Loftus website or on request from:
It is important to point out that changes must be approved by Pobl Living as failure to do so is in contravention of the covenants attached to properties and agreed to by residents.
