Festive Season

Christmas Tree
This year’s Christmas tree was organised by the Loftus Village Association Housing Co-operative. The co-operative consists of 19 members living in Loftus Walk who run their own housing management service. To celebrate Christmas at Loftus, there will be a Carol Signing Evening on 14th December 2017 starting at 7.00pm around the tree followed by mince pie and mulled wine in the Church on Wednesbury Street – all welcome.

Gardens & open space areas
The phase 4 of Loftus Gardens has started and we have now have planted over 250 trees at Loftus and once matured they will help absorb over 12,500 lbs of CO2 on an annual basis. The new Public Open Space which will be a Play area is taking shape and it is anticipated that it will be open by April 2018.
Hedges /Plants
We’ve noticed that some of the hedges are not looking the best and have reported this to the building contractor, Lovell’s. Similarly, some of the plants in the Public Open Space will need to be replaced as they do not meet our standards. We will continue to monitor and ensure that any plants that need replacing are done within the contract period so that Loftus continues to be an attractive and special place to live.
Gardeners
Over the last couple of weeks the two Gardeners are busy collecting leaves, mulching, trimming back hedges/pruning, blowing paths and weeding.
We will be renewing the cane structures on the new pleached trees to join them all up. To encourage wildlife and increase biodiversity our carpenters have created bird boxes and will be putting up a few of these in one or two of the more sturdy trees and on top of the fences in places that are tucked out of the way.
Christmas Closures
The main office will be closed from 4.00pm on 22nd December 2017 and will re-open on 2nd January 2018.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and hope to see some of you at the Carol Concert on the 14th.
