October update
Following an inspection of the Kitchen Garden in September 2019 Pobl hopes that you have enjoyed the process of growing produce over the summer months.
Overall the Kitchen garden plots were well maintained. Here is an update on jobs that will need doing over the next few weeks:
The autumn season is now upon us so you need to think about harvesting any existing crops and getting your beds ready for the winter.
- Please ensure that all weeds are removed.
- Any green waste should be placed in the compost bays to rot down and get recycled back into the beds next year.
- Please clean up the floor area around your plot including fallen leaves.
- Please keep the wood on top of the raised beds free of any debris or soil.
- No dogs are allowed in the kitchen garden, even on a lead.
- Please take any rubbish home with you and recycle accordingly.
If you have not planted any winter crops and have finished with your plot you can hand it back early, just make sure all plants have been removed and the bed is in the same condition as received. Please contact Frances to arrange a suitable time for a handover inspection. If you intend to keep your plot until April please remember that weeds will continue to grow through the colder winter months and beds must still be kept weed free and tidy.
To be considered for a plot next year which will be from April 2020 to March 2021, you will need to ensure that you have complied with the transfer, tenancy or lease of your property. This includes keeping you’re your front garden neat and tidy and having a clear estate charge account. If you have had payment reminders for your estate charge, those residents that have made payments in accordance with the transfer document will have priority.
